Presented to the Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA) by ABA Agency

Concept and identity

The slogan, the ZUKA character and the new visual identity

Concept

Back, Smarter

Expotech returns after its 2022 edition. In the comeback edition, AI and screens are not decoration on the walls; they guide every guest from the invitation to the last session.

ZUKA

One of the Arabic names for the sun, and it contains the word for “intelligence”: the edition's character, a live AI that talks with the hall.

Every pixel a stitch

Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery was a pixel grid long before screens were invented; the edition's identity is woven from it.

One night and one day, connected

From the Gala Night welcome to the last session: one identity, connected screens and one operational record for every guest.

01 · Concept and identity

Meet ZUKA

ZUKA is the edition's character: a real AI developed by ABA Technology. She greets guests by name at registration, talks live with the MC and the audience at the opening, and has her own session where the audience asks and she answers in her own voice on the screens.

A digital Palestine sunbird, made of light and stitches

Name
One of the Arabic names for the sun, carrying the word for “intelligence”.
Role
A live AI: she greets every guest by name, talks with the MC and the audience at the Gala opening, and hosts “Ask ZUKA” on the Sessions Day.
Why a bird?
The sunbird is Palestine's national bird. It moves lightly between screens and needs no talking human face.
Where does she appear?
The welcome screen and the interactive screen, the live dialogue at the Gala opening, the “Ask ZUKA” session, confirmation messages and wayfinding screens.

This drawing is an initial direction in the stitch style; ZUKA becomes a full 3D character once the concept is approved.

ZUKA introduces herself: Hello, I'm ZUKA. My name is one of the Arabic names for the sun, and it holds the word for intelligence. I'm a digital Palestine sunbird, woven from light and stitches. I greet you by name at registration, and chat with you on the interactive screen. At the opening I fly across the screens and over your heads, then talk with the MC. On the Sessions Day, ask me anything in the “Ask ZUKA” session. I was built by ABA Technology, here in Palestine.

01 · Concept and identity

ZUKA: one name, three directions for the look

Character name

ذُكاءZUKA

One of the Arabic names for the sun, carrying the meaning of intelligence: the Palestine sunbird comes back, smarter.

The opening film is ready in the sunbird direction: a countdown, the reveal and ZUKA's speech. Watch it in the Gala Night section.

Recommended direction

A. The digital sunbird

A purely Palestinian identity and natural flight between screens, with no need for lip-sync.

Second direction

B. A being of embroidery light

An abstract form of glowing stitches that changes in every scene: a logo, a map or a guest's name.

Third direction

C. The robot's digital twin

An animated version of ABA's four-legged robot: it welcomes guests on the screens, and they meet it for real in the lobby.

01 · Concept and identity

A new identity for the comeback edition

The idea: a “digital sunrise”. ZUKA's sun is woven stitch by stitch on the screens, so every pixel becomes an embroidery stitch. Palestinian cross-stitch is a pixel grid: every stitch is a pixel, and every pixel on an LED screen is a stitch.

02 · Guest journey

Before the event: pre-registration and smart invitations

Sessions Day: open registration for everyone

  • An Arabic and English registration page on the event website, built by ABA Technology.
  • Clear categories: visitor, exhibitor, speaker, media.
  • Instant confirmation on WhatsApp and email with a personal QR code, and an animated welcome message from ZUKA.
  • A reminder the day before, and on the morning of the event: the agenda and the lobby map.

Gala Night: personal invitations for 400 guests

  • An animated digital invitation in the edition's identity for Gala guests, and a premium printed version for VIP guests.
  • Confirming attendance adds the table number to the guest's code automatically, and registers them for the Sessions Day if they wish.
  • A live dashboard for PITA: registrations in real time by category and sector.

Data is used for the event only, with each registrant's explicit consent, and is deleted after a set period.

02 · Guest journey

Arrival: check-in in seconds, and a welcome by name

A clear path in front of both Yabus doors and along the carpet, nothing in the lift lobby, and the coffee corner at the north end.

02 · Guest journey

Two robots moving among the guests

Two robots accompany guests from the lobby into the hall: ABA's four-legged robot dog, and a humanoid robot secured for the event. They move on set routes, each with an ABA operator.

ABA equipment

The robot dog

  • It roams the 4 × 4 m robot zone in the middle of the lobby, with a short movement show every 30 minutes.
  • Before the opening it leads guests down the centre aisle toward the stage, and stands at the stage front at the reveal.
  • At the close it leads guests to the main door, and on the Sessions Day it joins the VIP tour.

Secured for the event

The humanoid robot

  • It stands by the interactive screen, greeting guests, waving to them and posing for photos.
  • It walks into the hall with the guests along the centre aisle, and presents ZUKA with a gesture at the reveal.
  • It bids guests farewell at the main door at the end of the night.

Set routes

Both robots move on pre-mapped routes away from the service path, at a calm walking pace, and never take stairs.

One operator per robot

An ABA operator accompanies each robot with a controller and an instant stop button, and pauses it when the space gets crowded.

Optional side experience

ZUKA's arrival: the whole hall becomes one screen

Six 5 × 4 m screens on the two side walls, three on each side, all linked to the façade on one timeline.

  1. 1

    The first pulse 0–4 s

The hall goes dark, stitches flicker on the side screens nearest the doors, and the sound starts from the back.

  2. 2

    ZUKA's bird crosses the screens 4–9 s

It flies along the six side screens from the doors toward the stage, jumping between them across the wall, with stitches lighting up behind it, so the whole hall turns to face the façade.

  3. 3

ZUKA forms on the façade 9–26 s

One flash across every screen, then she flies across the 27 m and writes her name, and the hall settles on its identity.

  4. 4

9 screens, one rhythm All night

One media server with timecode feeds the three façade screens and the six side screens as one screen, with a backup server.

After the reveal, the side screens work all night: image magnification for the speeches, the gala films, sponsor thanks and the dinner atmosphere.

ZUKA flies through the whole hall

Four moving projection heads hung above the tables bring ZUKA's bird off the screens and into the hall: it crosses the ceiling over the guests' heads, lands on the tables and climbs the walls between the screens before returning to them, at set moments in the programme and in sync with the screens and the sound.

  1. 1

    Opening 17:00

The bird crosses the side screens from the doors toward the stage, jumping between them across the wall, and ZUKA forms on the façade.

  2. 2

    After the reveal 17:03

It leaves the façade and flies over the guests' heads on the ceiling, then lands on the tables, shedding stitches behind it.

  3. 3

    ZUKA's segment and dinner 17:40–18:55

A full lap of the hall before ZUKA's segment, then a short flight every fifteen minutes to visit the tables.

  4. 4

    Close 18:55

It climbs above the main door and leads the guests out, while the two robots bid them farewell.

And on the Sessions Day: one flight at the opening of the day, and another announcing the “Ask ZUKA” session.

  5. 03:11

ZUKA arrives: her bird crosses the side screens from the doors toward the façade, ZUKA forms and writes her name, then the bird flies by projection over the guests' heads, and moving lights sweep the hall.

  6. 03:32

And for PITA: a full report with the edition's numbers, the basis for marketing the next edition to sponsors.

05 · After the event and operations

Operations and logistics

A full set-up day, an overnight changeover between the gala and the sessions, and a fallback plan for every live element.

Set-up day

Three days: one for installation and the technical rehearsal, then the Gala Night, then the Sessions Day, with the changeover to the sessions layout overnight after 7 pm. Equipment comes in through the hall's storeroom, not through the lobby.

Projection heads and robots

Four rigging points above the tables approved by the hotel's engineer, a 3D scan of the hall on the set-up day, and a charging and storage corner for the robots backstage.

Power

A dedicated three-phase supply for the screens (about 110–140 kW peak for 253 m²), separate from sound and lighting, about 6 kW for the projection heads, and a backup generator for critical systems.

Connectivity

Temporary high-density Wi-Fi, a separate production network, and a backup line over mobile networks; check-in works offline.

Catering

The gala dinner with table service, and coffee and lunch on the Sessions Day, coordinated with the hotel kitchen.
